War Horse
We chose War Horse to portray the emotions, battles and intensity of the show. We had chosen a scene to portray which was one of the main areas of the show which had strong emotion and a lot of battling in.
Editing

We had edited the video within premiere pro as it was what we had experience in. We had watched the section of the film we were basing the projection off and got inspiration from that. We used the music from that section as it fit what we had in mind.

With the inspiration in mind, we set off to source videos. We focussed on videos first as it was the most simple to get out of the way. With the videos put in and edited with the music, colour correction and cut to fit within two mins, we then sourced sounds. Some of the videos did not come with sound so we browsed for royalty free sounds on multiple websites to find the best ones that would fit the clips.

With editing the clips, I simply cut and added the default transition, which was a fade and adjusted the fade to make the clips look well put together.
Interrelations

During this AV assignment, we not only did the video, but we had to use sound design as well. This helped us build skills with working together with different job roles to make them fit.

Video would be done by the AV designer or the AV team. This means they would have no extra sound. This means they have to work with sound at the same time to make sure they get audio that fits the videos they chose.

This is important as having video with no audio or audio with no video would be confusing to the audience where they would leave very confused.
Projection

We used Qlab to project as it was easiest to work with what we had to do. We had imported the video into Qlab and put the mask onto the projector. We had to scale the mask to fit onto the area without leaking out. We did this with the four corner adjustable things to make sure it fir the ripped area we had to project onto.
We also had to scale the video we had edited to fit into the mask and centre the video. Once we did that we did a trial run to make sure everything ran smoothly and then recorded them all.

The mask consisted of two colours, black and white. The black area of the mask did not let the projection pass through whereas the white area let the projection pass through.
What could I improve on?
Although I think we had a good projection and a good video, we had areas we could improve on.

The video we had made consisted of mainly movie clips that I think portrayed what I was trying to make as close as possible but looking back on it I think I could have used videos from that era and videos relating to the feeling as well as the clips to portray the war.

The mapping element was questionable as adjusting one corner of the mask also adjusted the others therefore making it difficult to get right. This overall caused the map to either not project on some parts of the ripped sheet or spill out of the ripped sheet.

Mood Board
Overall
Overall, the projection went well. None of the video leaked out of the area that we were projecting onto and the sound worked well. Some of the clips we used did not run at full 60fps which the project was set at but apart from that everything went well. Everyone enjoyed watching our video and I enjoyed watching everyone else's.

I have learnt to work as a team and together with different job roles to create one final piece. We all came up with ideas and put them together to make the final piece. If one of us were stuck someone else in the group would try and help. The final design for the video did not have everyones say that it was good as some were absent and I think the projection could have gone way better.

The projection itself was very successful. With little leakage around the edges and bright, clear video. However I think that if the ripped cloth was straight/flat we would have had a more successful projection with no warping.
