The Old Rep Theatre
The Old Rep Theatre is part of Boa Stage and Screen as to give students a hands on experience with their desired job role overall giving them experience in theatre work.
The Old Rep Theatre is a hemp theatre which uses thick ropes and no motors for the flying system above the stage. This creates the old feeling of the theatre as they are doing theatre the old school way just with some new equipment for energy efficiency and to keep up with new technology.
Old Rep Write Up
In the old rep theatre visit, We had a power point presentation on how the theatre works and during it, we got split into 2 groups to have a tour around the theatre. We first got to see the technical control room and that was important to me as I am doing technical theatre. Seeing how the technical side of the theatre runs wavery cool. We then got shown where all of the different rooms are like the changing rooms and the flight system. The theatre is a hemp theatre so they use rope for the flying system. When getting a tour backstage we saw how everything behind the scenes happens for a theatre production for example the band area under the stage and the sides of the stage where actors and props would be stored. This was very important for us as year 12 as we will be doing shows there next year for haloween, christmas etc. This was also very important as we had got shown where all of the roles would be stationed and what roles are available for shows like flying.
