What is Qlab
The qlab software is used to play different sound effects to create ambience within a theatre show. We source the sounds from free sounds websites, or paid. We also record some sounds to make it easier for us.
Qlab is an industry standard audio playing tool used all across different areas of the industry from news to theatre and many more live events.

How I have used Qlab
I have used Qlab within my lighting assessment to cue different sounds with the lights. I had done this by timing the cues with what was happening on the script and with the lights. I done this by adding a timed delay to when the sound would start.

We had used the fade cues to make the sound effect appear gradually instead of instantly. We also used folders to split up the scenes and make sure the cues fired at the right time. This made it easier to organise and help the whole group figure out the sections within the Qlab file.
How Qlab is used

Qlab is a cue playing software where each sound, video or lx cue can be cued at a press of a button. These are most likely in order as a list or in folders for each part of the play. To add sounds it is very simple, it is just a drag and drop feature making it very user friendly.
